Pop Art – Rik Van Looy Triptych

This Signed & Limited-Edition Rik Van Looy artwork has been created by Belgian artist John Mettepenningen in collaboration with the Flandrien Art Gallery. It celebrates the period early in Van Looy’s career in which he raced for the iconic FAEMA-Guerra team.

Henri “Rik” Van Looy was the first ever cyclist to win all five cycling monuments and was twice world professional road race champion. He is second only to fellow Belgian Eddy Merckx in terms of his total number of 379 professional road race victories, and ninth on the all-time list of Grand Tour Stage winners. Van Looy was also a star on the track, winning no fewer than 11 six-day races.  He was nicknamed “ De Keizer van Herentals” (Emperor of Herentals) after the Belgian town in which he has lived until this day, but also due to his intelligence, self-confidence and dignified nature.

The artworks can be mounted on gallery quality plexiglass or stretch framed canvas.

The series is limited to a production run of just 25 and includes a numbered Flandrien Gallery Certificate of Authenticity which has been hand signed by John Mettepenningen.
