We are proud to showcase in our Flandrien Gallery this Giant TCR Advanced SL Team Rabobank bicycle, ridden by Belgian classics specialist Nick Nuyens. Fitted with the final generation of Shimano mechanical components, this bike represents a key moment in professional cycling history: the end of an era before Rabobank and the wider peloton embraced electronic shifting with Di2. Nuyens rode this bike at the start of the 2011 season, making it a rare and historically significant example of mechanical precision at the highest level.
The TCR Advanced SL has long been synonymous with professional performance. Giant’s top-tier aluminium and carbon race frames were renowned for their lightweight construction, responsive geometry, and perfect balance of stiffness and compliance. The Advanced SL model elevated the platform further, offering precise handling, maximum power transfer, and race-ready geometry tailored to professional riders. Fitted with the final generation of Shimano mechanical components, this TCR combines reliability, tactile shifting precision, and world-class performance—the very qualities that made Shimano the standard for pro teams for decades.
Nick Nuyens, a formidable Belgian classics rider, is perhaps best remembered for his victory at the 2011 Tour of Flanders and strong performances in races such as Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Known for his tactical intelligence, climbing ability, and powerful sprint from reduced groups, Nuyens was a vital member of the Rabobank squad, helping the team secure victories and podium finishes across Europe’s toughest one-day races. This TCR Advanced SL provided him with the platform to perform at the highest level, offering responsiveness, stability, and confidence across cobbled classics, sharp climbs, and technical descents.
